Bette Fetter: Playdough and Multi-Sensory Learning
Playdough is not just for playing. Our grandson is learning about the solar system. But he’s not just hearing about it.
He’s singing it. Drawing it. Writing it. Cutting papers for worksheets. And he’s making – it in playdough! And that my friends is what we call multi-sensory learning!
Kids learn best when they see, touch and do something related to what they are learning. So whenever you can, make learning fun with lots of different ways to experience the information.
Enjoy some time singing, while you’re making planets:
(Tune is Skip to my Lou)
I know the planets how bout you?
I know the planets how bout you?
I know the planets how bout you?
Lets say them all together.
Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars
Jupiter, Saturn among the stars
Uranus, Neptune but Pluto NO!
All spin around in space its true.
Everything goes around the sun
Spinning spinning every one
Earth is ours It’s number three
It’s atmosphere is right for me.
