This week I am preparing for a visit to Milwaukee. I’ve been invited to share some thoughts on Being Visualand educational strategies at the Menomonee Fall’s Optimist Club. I always enjoy the opportunity to meet people, share ideas and learn from those interactions. I must say this group especially intrigues me. There are a number of organizations with professionals from all walks of life who work together to impact their community, but the Optimist Club is focused entirely on work that directly benefits children.

The Mission of the Optimist Club is “to provide hope and positive vision, to bring out the best in kids.”  All of their activities, scholarships, fundraising and policy work is directed towards improving opportunities for children. They strive “to aid and encourage the development of youth, in the belief that the giving of one’s self in service to others will advance the well-being of humankind, community life and the world.” Now that sounds like my kind of group!

We’ll be meeting at the Menomonee Falls Community Center which is located at W152 N8645 Margaret Rd, in Menomonee Falls. The event will begin at 7am on Wednesday morning. I’ll be sharing thoughts from my book, Being Visual, on what it means to be a visual learner, their struggles in the classroom, and what we can do to help. I’m also excited to be a guest to learn more about the organization and meet these men and women that give so much of themselves to help children develop to their full potential.
