Why your Student’s Struggling – The Disconnect Between How Visual Kids Learn And How Schools Teach
In an effort to better understand why visual kids struggle in the language heavy classrooms, I have complied a list that compares – How Visual Learners Think and The Way Schools Teach. While the traits listed are common to visual learners overall, not all children are exactly alike and not all schools teach exactly the same way. With that in mind I hope reading this will shed some light on where things are working well for your child and why; as well where the challenges and opportunities lie.
For now here are some resources I think you’ll find helpful: As you can see there are some very distinct differences between what visual kids need and schools are teaching and testing, and these differences are affecting students at an alarming rate. What can we do to bridge the gap? There’s good news. There are very reasonable ways we can adapt and enhance current education methods to teach in ways that reach both auditory and visual learners. But more on that later.
