How NOT to Get Lost This Summer
Summer vacation has begun, now what?
I encourage you to take a break but don’t let the kids be idle for too long. Without a plan for maintaining their skills, kids can lose up to 2 1/2 months of knowledge while they are enjoying the sunshine and free time that summer is all about.
I have created a little schedule to give you a guideline for how the kids should spend their days this summer. You’ll notice a few minutes should be set aside for reading, writing, and math each day but most of the day is still available for creative free play.
This summer we are going to focus on reading, writing, and drawing to prevent the learning loss that can occur over those laid back summer days. We will offer new ways to read that are great for summer as well as ideas for getting the kids writing. One thing we are super excited about is a daily writing/drawing prompt on the Bette Fetter Facebook page to help the kids get inspired to journal this summer.
Stay tuned throughout the summer for great ideas for reading, writing and drawing this summer.
