Summer Vacation has finally arrived and while we all deserve a break from hectic schedules and homework, we need to keep our kids active. A lot can happen over summer to help build a child’s mind – but left unattended, a great deal of what’s been learned last year can be lost. Summer is the perfect time to experiment with different kinds of learning for different learning styles; all while keeping it light and having fun.

One of my favorite lessons of all time is about to be drawn in Young Rembrandts classrooms all across the country. It’s called – Cacti. You’ve heard me talk about this lesson before. My son Matt’s drawing, (pictured here) done many years ago, is still a personal favorite and hangs in my home and office.
Young Rembrandts students should be completing this piece sometime in the VERY near future so keep an eye out when they come home with their version of this masterpiece. This particular lesson requires a tremendous amount of time, focus and patience, especially when drawing, coloring and adding so many teeny tiny spines all over the cacti. We hope you will take special notice and appreciate your child’s creativity and hard work.

When my girls were young, there were times I felt like a human coloring book. All three of them enjoyed a healthy balance of art, athletics and creative play. Their creative play days consisted of lots of dress up, imagining and drawing. A favorite coloring and drawing subject were princesses, which often led to me providing the drawings they wanted to color.
Like most young girls, they could imagine the perfect dress, fancy hairdos and flashy jewelry – but when it came time to draw, they were intimidated by drawing faces and figures. That’s when I came to the rescue and provided help with their drawings and special requests.
It’s time to draw castles, crowns, princesses and sparkly jewels. We’ve bundled lots of new How to Draw videos into our latest eBook, Princesses & Enchanted Treasures!
We recently surveyed some of our young artists; the girls were most interested in princesses and fancy dresses. My favorite request was from 5 year old Delany who wanted to draw “princesses, dresses, dogs, castles, girls and babies”. There are no dogs or babies in this book of drawing videos, but there are plenty of princesses, tiaras, jewelry and even a castle.
Our new How to Draw videos are here, all rolled into one great eBook for your kids!

Meet Hannah and Grace. They love art. They love being creative. They love to tell people that art is their ‘thing’. For the most part, art is a solitary pursuit. That’s good because time spent doing art is time spent exploring and sharing one’s own imagination. But there are times that even artists want to be part of a group. They want to be on a team. Art class is a great place to gather and enjoy fellow art lovers, but how can they tell the world – they’re on the art team?
