Designate a Drop Zone
Back to school means back to books, shoes, bags, masks, folders, instruments etc… don’t get overwhelmed by the mess. Designate a drop zone. The ideal scene being everyone gets their stuff on the right hooks – but don’t be shy to settle for good enough. Keep the clutter out of your face and in the drop zone.
Digitize Your Life
I’m not saying Zoom this and virtual that. I’m saying sync a Google or iCal with your partner and even the kids. You can set alarms and reminders to go off for any pick up, meal prep, practice or even bedtime. Keeping everyone on pace and on the same page.
Meal Prep
Okay okay, we’ve all heard this before. But meal prep doesn’t have to mean cooking a million lunches and dinners on a Sunday. I’m saying, give everyone a day and hand them the keys to the kitchen. Kid A cooks on Monday, Partner cooks on Tuesday, Kid B cooks on Wednesday etc… reminder: these don’t have to be 4 course meals. But even a frozen pizza and a side of green beans tastes great.
Organizing our time and space keeps all of us feeling calm and sane. It’s true what they say, organized outside creates calm inside. Do you have any back to school hacks that have saved your sanity in the past? Comment below with your best suggestions.
