Kids and the Arts: Before & After
One of my all time favorite things to do is to head into a classroom full of preschool students, sit them around a table and teach them how to draw. That would strike terror into the hearts of most people, but with training and a reasonable expectation of what is possible – it is a most remarkable experience.
I spent many years developing the Young Rembrandts teaching method and to introduce our program we often do demonstration classes for the children at the preschool or day care center. These are 30 minute classes and it’s stunning to see what can happen with just 30 minutes of instruction.
Check out the images below and notice the ‘BEFORE’ drawings on the left and their corresponding ‘AFTER’ pictures on the right. The images fill the page, are full of remarkable detail and let the personality of the artist shine thought. It is amazing what just 30 minutes can do for any preschooler.
What is your child’s learning style? There are three basic learning styles; visual, tactile, and auditory. Take the test and get immediate results: Is your child a visual learner?
