School is Drawing Nearer
With school fast approaching, we’re still looking for ways to get kids ready for the classroom. Today is about drawing and coloring, the Young Rembrandts way. Summer may not have required much writing, focus or perseverance with fine motor skills, but school does. So, let’s use drawing and coloring to get focused and get those hands back on track for writing.
Draw – 20 minutes a day. If you’ve got an artistic kid this is going to be easy. You say 20 minutes and they’ll draw for two hours. If you’ve got a Young Rembrandts kid, they had some training and extra confidence. So, whether it’s in a sketchbook or pages and pages of paper, make time to draw. They can draw anything they want; favorite cartoon or video characters, things around house, pets. They can make cards or their own stationary, etc. Just get them drawing.
Color – 20 minutes a day. Did you know Young Rembrandts has coloring pages for kids?! They’re fun and too detailed for 20 minutes, but that’s good news. We want kids to get so involved in what they’re doing that 20 minutes flies by and they want more. A detailed, kid friendly design to color can do just that. Invite them to color one of our coloring pages, 20 minutes a day, until they finish. It might take three days, or 5 days, but that time spent in small details, will help refresh their focus and fine motor skills. Coloring is also good for getting the creative juices flowing.

Taking a few minutes everyday from now until school starts to draw and color is not only fun but will make a difference in your child’s ability to focus when they are back in the classroom. So what are you waiting for? Time is ticking away. Get drawing!
