Happy Mother’s Day!
This Mother’s Day I want to share a few thoughts on motherhood from my assistant. She is a mother of 3 ranging in age from 12 years old to 22 months old and has a few thoughts to share on your power as a mother.
I want to take a moment to thank all the mothers out there in the world for all the hard work and sacrifices they have made for their children.
But, in addition to all the things you have sacrificed I want to celebrate the things you haven’t.
Thank you for not sacrificing your strength. It takes physical, emotional and mental strength to be a mother. Your daughters are learning how to be strong women from you and your sons are learning how to love a strong woman. Stay strong.
Thank you for not sacrificing your individuality. Every one of us is different and we raise our children based on those differences. By maintaining your individuality, you are showing your children that it is okay to be who they are in the world even if it doesn’t fit in with what they see around them. The artist Pink gave such an inspiring speech as to why we must maintain our individuality.
Thank you for not sacrificing your passions. Your passions are such a huge part of who you are. Whether it’s refusing to sacrifice a career you love, choosing to pour your passion into raising your children at home or anything else that you love, pursuing your passions not only helps you remain healthy and happy but teaches your children to pursue the things that make them happy in life as well.
Thank you for not sacrificing your power. You are a mother. That title comes with more power than you realize. You have the power to make decisions for yourself and your children. You have the power to guide them in this world. You are the captain of your motherhood ship.
Thank you for not sacrificing your ferocity. Only you know your children for who they are and how they function in the world. You exercise your ferocity as you advocate for them every single day. Be that tiger mom when you need to be.
Thank you for being a strong, passionate, powerful, ferocious mother. You are educating the next generation in the ways of true motherhood and your efforts are immensely appreciated.
